In Response To: Loading up a SOF (Hyok Lee)

: I was wondering how you guys pack up a SOF boat for an extended trip? The
: empty area in front of the foot rest does not seem very accessible. Are
: you limited to the space behind the back rest?

It's probably too late for you to do this, but I put a piece of dowel between the gunwales at both ends of the boat and run lines around them and back to the cockpit where the ends are tied together, forming large loops (a trick Bill Low showed me). The lines are use to pull float bags into and out of the bow and stern (the bags are clipped to the lines at the front and rear, so they can be pulled both ways). This same pulley system can be used to pull gear bags into the boat, though storage is still somewhat limited due to the low volume of the boat.
