Inexpensive But Not "Cheap"

: In my el-cheapo PFD knife was just dangling from the belt (there was some
: flimsy belt). Now that I got fancy Kokatat Outfit Tour (but no belt), I'm
: puzzled. The knife is Gerber River Shorty. Below *left* shoulder strap, in
: diagonal over the pocket (handle would be protruding a bit)? Vertically at
: the front lash tab? Or above this tab (this looks like the best spot). And
: what is the best way to use slots on the sheath of that Shorty? (the lower
: slot has opening near the tip, I don't trust it). I've searched topics on
: "knife" here, but couldn't find anything - sorry if this is so
: simple that not worth talking about :-)This is the knife I currently use:

For the price, I wasn't sure if it was going to be really titanium. It is. Not a rust stain on it after well over a year of usage in saltwater, without ever a rinse. The titanium stock is bit on the thick side, 1/8" (I prefer 3/16" for finer edge and easier sharpening). The plus is that the blade is pretty bombproof and can probably plunge right through sheet metal like a car roof.
The plastic sheath has integral locking mechanism that mates with the knife handle. Very secure and appreciated after losing a very expensive custom fix blade during rescue practice. In fact, the sheath is too secure for one hand accessiblity, which diminishes one of the benefits of a FB -- quick accessibility. I made a simple mod to the sheath with a braided dracon line loop that allows for one hand extraction. I use velcro loop strap to wrap the sheath high on my PFD shoulder strap. I haven't found snagging on anything a problem yet.
I like it so much I bought another so that I have a knife on my ww pfd and one on seakayaking pfd.

PS. A hook vs fix blade is kind of a personal preference thing. For a general edged tool, I prefer a knive with clip or drop point for the greatest all around utility.
