if at any place in the class 2 part that there are 2 eddies on ea side of the river or at least separated somewhat(say one caused by a rock formation or disturbance), it will be the best practice of all to ferry back and forth betw them using diff angles as well as backwards and forwards. look for events to use as well.
i'm not the greatest paddler or technician, so in class 1 or 2 i can enjoy myself for hours doing this - the practice is great. and you can get a good workout without even going anywhere!
