: it's usually not the trim. take the same yak(s) and paddle backward - exactly
: the same thing happens in reverse, hehe - it's good practice and exercise
: to do this as the yak spins around anyway - play and then let it spin back
: forwards.: it's caused by boat design characteristics but is remedied by stroke or yak
: reconfiguration.Mike:
I've paddled my Prijon Yukon Expedition backwards and strangely I felt it was easier to control that way [Yak reconfiguration - reverse the seat? :-)] The Yuk Ex is a river tripping boat that seems different from everything else. WW paddlers think it more of a sea yak and sea kayakers think it more of a WW yak.
I did 9 miles yesterday on a class I-II river and tried the suggestions given here. They were a big help and I'm sure I'm on the right track. Thanks again to everyone for their help. I also plan to get instruction from the local paddling club in an August class. Seems to me the Yuk Ex is a boat that will let you know if your technique isn't all it should be.
