I'm a relatively inexperienced paddler but I've had this problem in two boats and not in a third. I tried modifying my stroke to no avail; the only sure cure was to stop and start again. Sweeps wouldn't straighten the boat. But I've found mechanical solutions to the turning, the problem seems to be the stern losing grip on the water and sliding to one side inexorabbly. On the Valley skerray dropping the skeg solves the problem supporting my theory about the sliding stern. On my spectrum without a skeg I tried duct taping a wood molding over the keel on the stern half of the boat, the problem disappeared. I think the design of the boat or maybe the fore and aft trim of the kayak is the problem and not your stroke.
