i visited a physiotherapist after the accident and am currently doing alot of upper body and shoulder exersizes and strengthening the rotator cuff muscles... the shoulder still feels weak at times though. it seems that over here in the uk surgery is the last option, having spoken to the physio about it.
what is a 'greenland paddle'? i currently use a lendel kinetic touring paddle, with a shorter shaft to try to reduce leverage on my shoulder when sea kayaking, and a short white water paddle on rivers.
coming from a whitewater background my roll is reasonably reliable. i think that going for a roll rather than high bracing is probably the best idea. however, i still find myself instinctively throwing in a high 'recovery stroke' when tipped. i am trying to re-educate myself to go for a roll or use a lower stroke but its quicker to move from forward paddeling to a high recovery stroke but i find that the technique is poor, arms to straight! when surfing, playing in a stopper or bongo sliding i always use a low brace.
i am afraid that i am from the UK, but would love to paddle the pacific N.W or greenland way.... but i need to get richer!! anyone been over to the Welsh Sea Kayaking Symposium at Nigel Dennis's ASSC on Anglesea???
paddle safe guys!
cheers
