: 3 other assists in addition to what the others said (as i find that
: correction is too late or excessive when waiting till the opposite stroke
: gets to the stern): -to assist in sweep effectiveness i'll shift down the
: shaft right into more of an extended paddle to get more leverage.
: - as mentioned before, because catching the motion early makes a huge diff,
: i'll sweep right out from the bow immediately the paddle gets in water.: - and the best of all (but you'll only recognize as you get able to recognize
: the turn momentum - thru practice), before i even change paddle side, i'll
: abruptly (very very subtly but abruptly) stop the paddle motion mid paddle
: just as soon as i recognize the shift. that stops it before it before it
: even gets started.if i think of it, the other one i sometimes try is a semi ineffectual modified canoe jstroke where the blade is turned just prior to exit to slow down (stop if lucky) the turn before getting to the other side's stroke. i have quite feathered paddles so it is a slow tech for me(lots of twisting), and also is slow as to the rear, but as many paddles have much less feather, it might be more useful.
something to try, play with, and reject if nothing else.
