If you are getting a lot of water just while paddling or in heavy rain, I presume you are going without a sprayskirt or you have a sprayskirt that is not well fitted. I'd strongly recommend using a well fitted sprayskirt. If you have a rec-style kayak or it otherwise has a coaming too large to fit a sprayskirt, I'd recommend attaching flotation bags in the stern and bow and avoiding rough conditions. In either case, also follow Bert's advice and get a good hand pump and sponge. Having such things will make for a safer paddle and a lot more fun not having to worry about 'what-if'.
: I just purchased my first Kayak...what is the method of removing any
: dangerous level of water that accumulates in the Kayak while paddling or
: if it rains heavy. Thank you
