I just checked out the Bowron Lakes in passing (I was committed to another trip, so couldn't stay and paddle it right then), where they have a couple of portages of 2+ km. The very nice and knowledgeable rangerette said that the carts they recommend are either the ones with bicycle wheels or the fat inflatable wheels. The plastic wheels break.
If your intended use is relatively smooth surfaces and short distances, such as ferry loading, then smaller more packable wheels may work fine. And, the consequences of failure are not too horrific. If you want to move a loaded boat over uneven ground for any distance, I would worry more about strength and usability and less about the aesthetics of deck loads.
