: Slow down Tim,soon the Greenland guys are going to have to learn 50 or 60
: rolls instead of 30.LOL
: I guess if you've got a good hip flick,that's the key.
: Another thing I've noticed is that for most everyone uses the right hand for
: the control hand (capsize to the left and roll up on the right with the
: right hand on the outboard end of paddle). Even skilled people with a
: solid offside roll will still favour the right hand. Is that because most
: people are right handed?
: When I do an offside roll with my left hand as the control it feels weak and
: unco-ordinated but on land doing other normal things there is nothing
: wrong with my left arm.Do you know anyone where the left is their
: "onside" and the right is the "offside"?
: Just wondering.
: Cheers
: BertI am right handed and learned the right hand side roll first. That was my "onside." Then I went to work on the "off-side", and worked it, and worked it. Now my left side is my on-side and my right side is my "off-side." I know because that is where my body goes instinctively in ww and surf. (In flat water, I have time and can choose which side I want to roll up on.) Only if I blow it on that left side, for whatever reason, that I make a conscious decision to go the right side (offside) for a roll. It isn't really an "off-side" per se because I will come up over 90% (or greater) of the time. It's just not what I instinctively go to.
