Take a lesson from my first and second grade teacher. Whenever your student doesn't do what you want, slap them as hard as you can on the side of the head!! (Obviously I didn't do what she wanted a lot and my ears still ring when I think of that!)

Seriously, I think just a constant reminder to her will do the trick. Your reminders should get fewer and fewer as she progresses.
