I'm sure that there are others here that could give you a better description of the boat's performance, my paddling experience is pretty much limited to a big ol' fiberglass boat and this one. But, I think that I'd agree with Cunningham's comments in the SeaKayaker construction article -- that it isn't a boat for lounging about in. When I first paddled it, it was horribly unstable. I was afraid that I'd built the wrong boat, but it's stability has greatly improved (read my balance skills have improved). When it was new it wouldn't hold a straight line for me worth beans. That has changed with age and now it tracks straight (read my paddling skills have improved), but it is not a boat that holds itself on a straight line like my old fiberglass boat does. It does leaned turns nicely. It does have a tendency to weathercock, but a slight lean and a bigger sweep stroke can usually correct it. It also has a retractable skeg that eliminates the tendency to weather cock. And, I only have a little experience with it in waves. All in all -- I love it. I try to get out and paddle every day and always come home wiht a smile on my face.

: I was thinking about building the Cunningham S&G and am wondering what your
: opinion is on how the boat handles. I was curious about primary stability,
: secondary stability, tracking, manuverability, weathercocking and how
: comfortable it feels in rebounding waves. I would sure like to hear your
: comments. Thanks.
