: Pamela - Were you taught to lift your elbow? I'm right handed and have always
: paddled feathered. If I am sure to lift my right elbow there is no need to
: flex my right wrist at all for a proper "catch" on the left. I
: did the Blackburn this year for the first time, feathered, and had no
: wrist, arm or shoulder soreness at all.: Liz
...and no pain. I used technically correct paddle strokes with raised elbows. My paddle is set at 45 degrees, keen, bright and splashing with silver. I paddled through some pretty brutal whitewater without missing a stroke. Would I ever go to unfeathered? Not sure why I should. It seems to me that paddling with proper technique aleviates sore wrists/arms problems.
