: One other thought about the advantage of a 90-degree feather: If your paddle
: blades are completely symetrical (like Derek Hutchinson's Toksook paddle)
: then it doesn't matter how you grab the paddle - orient one blade and you
: KNOW where the other one is, without having to look, or flip your paddle,
: or anything.Asymmetrical paddles don't work as well when upside down or backwards, but they aren't awful. For rolling or bracing, a 90º feather will work adequately. But for all the other work you'd do with them, 90º would seem pretty unpleasant to me.
By the way, to make the º angle symbol, hold down Alt, then type 0186 on your keypad.
Shawn
: Of course, the same thing applies to zero* feather as well. (That's why I
: like my Greenland stick - doesn't matter how I grab it, it's always ready
: to go!): Of course, this doesn't apply to asymmetrical blades or feather angles other
: than 0 and 90.: Val
