Slalom paddlers still using more feathered paddle up to say 80 degree (or even 90) but they sprint for a mere 1.5 minutes and don't especially care about issues like ease of bracing or rolling or other such timewasting maneuvres.
Majority of riverrunners or playboaters use 45 degree but there is a noticeable trend to 15 degree lately amongst playboaters. The reasoning is that lower feather angle means less stress on wrists and less time to adjust blade angle between strokes. I currently use 45 degree but want to try 15 or even zero.
But hey feather angle is a personal choice.
