Sing,

I special order my white water paddles unfeathered. I play around with feather angles all the time -- except in white water. There the need for instincive bracing and instant rolls favors sticking with ones most familiar feather angle.

I get teased sometimes about my funny unfeathered paddles, but it doesn't last. While I've been told the unfeathered paddle will get caught up when punching through big water, I've never had a problem (and I paddle in up to good sized class IV rapids).
