After getting into GP's for a lot of my sea kayak work, I've really started using a lot of sculling braces. So, I "listen" to the paddle more, and my instinct a little less. Jumping to the 45º feather in my WW paddle is a lot less of an issue than it was 2 years ago.
I agree about the reverse sweep on the offside..that's about the only spot you really get tripped up.

: I paddled unfeathered (GP) in a seakayak. Going into white water this year, I
: was concerned about confusion over blade orientation since WW paddles are
: feathered, although as some one pointed out less do than touring paddles.
: I think I may have experienced some initial confusion but nothing that was
: long term. I haven't experience any major problems bracing or rolling --
: either side -- in either a white water boat or a sea kayak, provided I
: "play" a little with the paddle before really getting on with
: the agenda. The only move that seems to take some thought is reverse sweep
: (stern to bow) on the offside in a white water boat. I have to take a
: second or tow to orient for that one.: Having said that, I prefer unfeathered. I would mind picking up a 30 degree
: white water paddle, if I can find the right size used.: sing
