Excellent point about the oval. I cut the Werner down last night and just caught that factor at the last minute. My 235 was cut down by the factory from a 240 as I thought that was what I needed. I was able to cut it down to a 228, and do not think it could have gone farther, so 12 cm seems about the limit. How do you cut down the other side,-from where the shaft attaches to the paddle?? Get a new insert??
I tested it last night, and was very happy with the improved performance. It is a bit counterintuitive, as with a longer paddle it feels like you are putting more force on the water.

: I cut down one of my Werners but took it all from one side. I didn't watch
