: The scoop, as you describe it, matches my understanding exactly. I haven't
: heard the "hand of God" term for a while, but that sounds closer
: to what would have been needed to rescue me, floating upside down and
: unconcious.Exactly.
: Can the "hand of God" term be applied to rescuing a concious, but
: trapped paddler who doesn't know how or can't initiate a bow rescue? You
: grab them and pull them up using the same technique, but they're not inert
: (unconcious) or injured. I believe that's the definition I've heard in the
: past. I'm no instructor, however, so I defer to anyone who studies the
: finer points of rescue technique. Things get muddled in this brain, and
: not always from a lack of oxygen! JohnSure, though it may be easier to do with a victim that wasn't flailing around or trying to grab onto you or your boat. I can't say, as I've never had to do one for real. Unlike other rescues (which can be fun and enlightening), performing a hand of God rescue in earnest is not something I look forward to.
