My concern is that you may need to transmit considerably more in an emergency. What may be plenty of battery life left in typical situations may not be nearly enough when you really need it. Just a thought. It would be ideal to have a drop in charger that won't overcharge the battery so the radio could live in there and always be ready. Spare battery is a good idea.
