I've used a GP in surf and rocks...the shallowish river almost demanded a euro. I couldn't get enough bite without a lot of "clunking"! Forget the sliding stroke!

Also, on shorter, choppier whitewater waves, I found I couldn't rudder as well with a stick as I could with the euro.

When surfing bigger, longer, taller wind waves on open water, I found less difference.
