Thanks Robert, I teach sea kayaking and pretty much emulate a goony overstylized torso rotation technique most of the time in classes unless I'm paddling by myself and it's whatever is needed. Overgripping the shaft can cause wrist and forearm problems with arm paddling messing with attachments at the shoulder joint but this is different. Repetitive stress injuries seem to target specific tendons/joints, what I'm describing is if I put my hand on the floor and someone walked on it.
