: Hi Robert, I have never had a bad encounter with a "deadhead" but I
: have seen quite a few while out fishing with my dad when I was a lad. They
: are a common occurence on lakes and rivers where they used to float logs
: down to the sawmill or a take-out point. These waterlogged logs resurface
: because they start rotting and this produces oxygen (or something) inside
: the log, making it just light enough to make it up to the surface but not
: light enough to really float. I have heard of several power boat and
: deadhead related accidents. Isn't that what happened in the movie "On
: Golden Pond"?I love that movie. My eyes got all watery when the old man got sick. That's one movie I need to own, just haven't found a copy of it yet. So those logs are called "deadheads". Now I know how to refer to them. Sure caught me b surprise when it suddenly popped up. Hope I never get to close to one of those again.
