I strongly suggest a mid size wing; length? 215 or 220. Probably a 216 or 218, but heck, you might just love a 212(less grabbines from wind)

: sweeps that suck?
sweeps and stern draws work with a wing, just not as efficient. And although they are not forgiving of a poor set up, they will work well for a roll.
Here is a story. Two good friends paddled the Brooks Peninsula last year. One used a wing paddle and a ruddered boat, the other a euro blade (skeg boat). The they put in several 20-25 nm days; the guy with the standard paddle told me he has never worked so hard in his life, and drafted as much as possible. He is also and ex Cat 1 bike racer and very fit. Sounds like a good argument for a wing paddle?
Except the guy using the wing also said he had never worked so hard in his life. The wing is cool, I have learned a lot from it, but I personally do not like to use it for touring. They are efficient, but one dimensional, ie, not very playful.
Most wing users prefer rudders, but a rudder or skeg is not necessary.
