More sloppy work from a hack writer

Mr. Sutherland,
Having included several fallacies in your article, you have not learned from your mistakes and go on making assumptions and printing false information. I am neither anonymous nor a neoprene industry representative. I maintain a website for scuba divers and have reported on neoprene along with many other subjects that interest and affect divers. That hardly bespeaks anonymity. A link to my website was provided as the source of certain information. I have done a lot of research on neoprene, wetsuits, drysuits and hypothermia and have consulted with the Naval Medical Research Institute of the U.S. Department of the Navy and am privvy to some results commissioned by the government of Canada as regards thermal retention and survival gear. I spoke with the person who performed the tests. The results of that study are the property of the Canadian government, who apparently has not deigned to make them public.
Given the facts, I consider the recommendation of Polartec for cold water use not only sloppy journalism, but criminally negligent. Quoting someone else who has not checked the facts or ignored them does not alleviate your responsibility to print the truth. All you have done is repeat some of the same lies about Polartec despite common sense and tests proving otherwise.
Wetsuits are hardly a thing of the past, any more than VCRs made movie theaters obsolete (another nonsensical prediction, this one from the past).
Given your lack of fact checking and your tendency to print falsehoods, nothing else you say has any interest for me.
To everyone else, choose wisely who you believe, hack writers or your own good sense, coupled with verifiable facts from reputable sources. Check with the Naval Medical Research Institute of the U.S. Department of the Navy if you wish. They can be most helpful and are far more reliable than hack writers.
