Using a non-bulkheaded boat for extended trips requires a little pre-planning. I have two large, wedge shaped bags made to fit into the bow and stern of my boat and pack them on shore. Once the boat is at the put in point I simply slide one bag into each end and I'm off. On landing it's the reverse. All in all, much faster than packing individual small bags. However, my bags are not waterproof and so I still pack using double garbage bags inside the wedgies. Also, don't forget to take float bags so that you paddle safely after you've unloaded your boat at your destination. You could even slide the floatbags in on top of the wedgies for additional floatation.
