I agree, but...

...we're generally not turning a kayak fast enough for weight to make much of a difference. I've often had trouble turning a boat due to wind and wave effects on the hull, but I can't think of a single time that I felt the weight of the boat made a difference. The only time I ever complained about the 65#+ weight of my 'glass recluse was when lifting and carrying it. On the water, it was fine. Maybe I'm just out to lunch or something, but it seems to me that kayak weight - within the normal range we see - doesn't make much difference. If you add 100# of gear, that's a different matter.
