: That question was really interesting. I ran through the numbers for my boat
: and typical cruising speed, and found I lose about 1/3 of a knot when
: doing extended kayak camping trips due to the 100# gear load. I can live
: with that. It also help
At usca nationals I worked harder than I had ever worked in my life to beat someone by 6 ft. Big people tend to melt on a hot day. At 234#, I like to think I can bench press a Buick and how do you think it feels to beaten by a superbly conditioned woman who is about half my weight? And on the subject of safety and weight, the seda web site seemed to say they no longer have front bulkheads in the gliders. Because safety and not hurting my back is such a big deal I added a rear bulkhead and thigh braces to my west side boat. The man I worked so hard to beat is the man who so skillfully crafted this 24# boat that is 21 ft long. God I love that boat and cannot wait to again get in the icebreaker held 3rd weekend of march at www.saranaclake.com More than once this year we had distinction of being coldest place in nation with 34 below. The ice fisherman say the ice is still 3 or 4 feet thick. IT has been a great year for ice! But meanwhile it is fun to go the gym to get that runners- kaywakers high.
