: When Sea Kayaker reviewed the Mariner Coaster (review found on Mariner’s
: website), one strong tester (180# male) was able to push the Coaster to
: 5.17 knots for a mile at maximum effort, 4.9 knots for over an hour, and
: 4.6 knots in rough water. Nobody, including the manufacturer, claims this
: little boat is a speed demon that will fill your mantle with trophies, but
: I find it does paddle nicely around 3 to 3.5 knots. Don’t really care to
: go any faster because then my wife wouldn’t paddle with me anymore.I steadily paddle 3.6 knots [18' hull], faster naturally crossing lanes by over a knot. I have to believe the Ben n' Jerries factor and the 50 lbs. of proof have shaved off a good half knot. Anyone know how much faster id paddle if i were 170 lbs instead of 220lbs?
