: Hi Greg,
: Whats your take on the torso rotation during paddeling. Strict form sais you
: NEVER bend your elbows, while paddlers i kno all seem to bend the elbows
: at the very end of the stroke. Im in the latter category. Is there any
: benefit however to being so strict in torso rotation as to have locked
: elbows essentially?: Pete
You must bend your elbows or overextension will occur. Bench pressers never straighten their arms when benching for this reason. See the brent reitz video but most efficent is your lower hand in close and rotate. Your right leg is straight as right blade goes in water. Not really pushing much with left hand because it is too far from body to be efficent. Straight elbows are ok first couple times to get away from arm paddling. My wife and I did a kayak racing flic on this after I again did the 90 miler from old forge to www.saranac lake.com
