: Whats your take on the torso rotation during paddeling. Strict form sais you
: NEVER bend your elbows, while paddlers i kno all seem to bend the elbows
: at the very end of the stroke. Im in the latter category. Is there any
: benefit however to being so strict in torso rotation as to have locked
: elbows essentially? It is a good idea to question any technique that says "never". I think it is well worthwhile trying paddling for some distance without bending your elbows. It forces the use of other muscles which you may not bring into play otherwise. In doing so you can get a feel for how they work for you. Your reaction may be, "wow, that feels good" or you may find it just doesn't work that well for you. After practicing different techniques for a while you can begin to develop a technique that is comfortable and effective for you. If you find this involves bending your elbows, go for it.
