Tom, I don't remember where those Brooks combi have nylon and where - neoprene, but I have a bad experience with nylon MEC sprayskirt with suspenders. Water is pooling around waist - no big deal, but it's leaking through at the back, where water-resistant layer is worn out. Nylon fabrique is not water-resistant itself - it has to be impregnated with water-resistant chemicals, and this impregnant either wears out mechanically or degrades because of UV, heat, water - you name it. Often 1 season will do.
