Rudders -- does anyone use a kite? *Pic*

A slightly different tack than the one mentioned above.
I read with interest the article in Sea Kayaker about the couple on the North West coast who used a kite for down wind propulsion. I have some kites, which I would have already used were it not for a certain sense of self preservation.
At long last, I came to a realization that I could tie the kite to the middle of my paddle and then use either end as a rudder. I don't know if it would work, but I may get wet next summer trying. (This experiment seems like a better swim suit test than a wet suit test.)
I also thought that using a rudder (which I do not have) might be a way to get the wildy planing kayak headed in approximately the direction I want to go.
Anyone have experience with this? Below is a link to the kite I have (Sutton Flowform 16). It's about 3 feet x 4 feet in size. I use it for Kite Aerial Photography.
