: The "danger season" only just starting... Wearing a PFD is a given
: but other equipment, immersion protection, good skills, backups and
: judgement are just as required. If you have ever paddled on Lake Superior, you know that the "danger season" never starts because it never ends. Lake Superior is ALWAYS dangerous. Frigid water and pea-soup thick fog are big risks all the time. She can go from dead calm to 4 foot waves in literally minutes. She can generate sustained waves of 30 feet and rogue waves to 60 feet. She even has tidal movements in certain places. This is not a lake to be trifled with.
She is beautiful, beckoning, and treacherous.
Safe Paddling!
