Craig,
For what it is worth, Here are some of the sites that I have looked at recently. And, I share your sentiment, none of these are perfect, but they all have at least a piece or two of good information, not that I am any kind of expert, (but I did do my first roll yesterday, and had even more success tonight -- and have been looking at any reference I can find). I have also benefited from Derek Hutchinson's book. I haven't looked at Dutky's book yet, but will.
http://www.redbraes.co.uk/roll/rolling.htm good rolling info with animated examples...
http://www.ne-ww.com/rolling.htm makes the point that one should approach and practice the roll with a firm mental resolve that wet exiting is not an option
http://ross.secant.com/kayak/articles/sculling.htm technically this is not rolling, but sculling is related and also a valuable skill to have
http://www.qajaqusa.org/cgi-bin/GreenlandTechniqueForum_config.pl greenland technique forum -- lots of expertise here, search the archives for more info
http://members.rogers.com/michaeldaly2/kayakRollingXref.htm Kayak Rolling Cross Reference
-John D. (after only two days, and I think I'm a rolling addict already
)
: Can anyone share a link
: that includes clear, concise and reliable text combined with accurate
: illustrations or video? Many rolling links fail on one or both counts.: Thanks in advance,
: Craig
