Over rotation

OK, here's the deal according to me. The straight arm thing is a useful training tool to get folk used to rotating their torso. Most beginning paddlers are very stiff in the torso, and as such are very static when rolling, bracing, ruddering, driving the boat , etc. Absolutely torso flexibility and rotation is a good thing, but what blows me away are these simplistic freaks that don't inderstand balance. If all you have is a hammer pretty soon everything starts to look like a nail! A good efficient forward stroke involves a lot. Good paddle entry with adequate (not too much) torso rotation. Good follow through with upper hand moving forward with some force while the rear arm pulls back with good elbow position and torso unwind. But folks this is easy stuff, and soon becomes quite natural. These dogmatics once again try to make easy stuff hard in order to feed their self importamt ego's. I do not paddle with these types because they can never keep up, are always a swim hazard, and they bore the hell out of everyone with their dogma. You gotta understand that I have lived my professional life in the outdoors, and I've heard it all. I have no respect for blowers and gear freaks. I've heard it all, I'm BORED, and I don't feel like being nice. NOONE PADDLES WITH THEIR ARMS LOCKED!!! NOW LETS MOVE ONE! I recently met my inner child...that was not a good thing. There's a reason nature supreses such things. Happy (relaxed arm) paddling!
