Rob,

Go with Contacts - period, and save the glasses in your day hatch or where ever in the event of a loss. Im profoundly nearsighted - to the point that its tough to tell faces at 50 - 75 feet away. That said, I would never ever ever consider them for kayaking. Heres the reasons...

1. Glasses are heavier and eventually slide down your nose. You dont want to break cadance to keep adjusting them up the bridge of your nose - and wet nosers are slippery. Oh that headband thingamajig - sure but then you have problem #2...

2. Water spots continually getting on your lenses

3. With contacts you can afford a nice pair of polarized sunglasses that are lightweight without the slippage problems. Water spots, sure now and then, but because your not constantly breaking cadance to adjust them its no big deal occasionaly to wipe them.

4. When you finally land on yonder island and throngs of adoring beach maidens help you out of your kayak you want the cooler look of contacts.
