Dean,
I am refering to the West Coast Rendezvous, is that the one you plan on attending.
On the Putz, it is done with trusses and floor beams instead of steam bent ribs. But you should be able to do some steam bending in the kitchen of your apartment.
Or you could use green willow shoots ala Wolfgang Brink. These bend easily and hold their shape when they dry.
If neither of these options appeals to you, try laminating your ribs like you did your stems. I have not seen this done before, but I'm sure it would work, and it is something you already have experience with.

: Mike,
: Thanks for the info! I plan to attend the Rendezvous, so I hope to see your
: more-than-one-way-to-skin-a-kayak demonstration.: Going off of Chris Cunningham's instructions in Sea Kayaker, it looked like
: more tools were necessary for making a skin-on-frame because of some of
: the funky compound angles at the ends, etc. I thought maybe I needed to
: make some fancy jigs to cut the right bevels. But I guess the Inuits did
: it without much for tools...: One last question to bug you with: How about steam bending? Is this possible
: in an apartment, or are there other non-steam-bent ways to go about doing
: the ribs?: Dean
