Which Kayak to Build

I am preparing to build my first kayak. I am using Nick Schade's book, The Strip Built Kayak", for the plans. Like doing things the hard way. I am using some wood that I picked up on the side of the road. No kidding, It looks good and is light weight and straight grained. I don't know if I have enough to build the"Great Auk", so I am leaning towards the Gillemot single, but I'm wondering if it is the boat for me. I have had whitewater experance in both the kayak and canoe and am confident with my paddle skills. The question I have is about my weight. I weigh around 225 lbs. Is that too much for the Gillemot?
