: Lately an Ad for PVC pipe caught my eye and I thought about using it to build
: a skin boat frame. I'm concerned about the elasticity of the material,
: although it behaves close to what I would expect a strip of wood to do.
: Anybody done it, or am I charting new ground?: Thanks for the thoughts.
Was at a paddlefest (ladysmith,b.c.) over the weekend and saw a couple w/ pvc frames, but didn't really look too hard. The blder was using 'found' mat'ls. The skin was reclaimed polyester? from saw(pulp?)mills, and looked strong but not stretchanble. Can't remember the jointing/frame intersection.
Sorry not much help, but they're there. maybe check the baidarka mailing list
