I haven't delved into it yet, but I think the toughest part of the problem will involve how to model a non-homogeneous material. How would you model epoxy, for instance, if by itself it looks like swiss cheese when the glass is subtracted out? Do I model it as separate destinct layers of wood, glass, and epoxy? I'll have to search for info on lay-ups and hope I can find data for lay-ups similar to what we use. If it's not available, the model may not be worthwhile. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
