All laminates were reinforcing fiber/epoxy construction. We tried the following reinforcements: E-glass, HS-carbon, Dyneema, Aramid, reinf-polyester. We did theoretical calcs on about 20 laminates and chose 6 or 7 to tests. Aramid and dyneema did not get good results even in most combinations but they both did give the laminates some toughness, the cracks did not get very far on the impact test and chances on losing whole pieces in real collision propably is less. In so called local bending both give lousy results, on global stiffness they fared much better.
