Lee,
I did some tests of diferent skin coatings when I did my skin on frame Putz. Varnish coated canvas did not do well at all, it felt toughand stiff, but it tore easily, easier than untreated canvas. It was actually brittle. The stuff coated with Elast-o-Seal and Snow-Roof was puncture resistant (couldn't push a screwdriver through it) and wouldn't tear by hand as the varnish coated stuff easily would. I plan on testing some synthetics with the same coatings and urethane later this year.
Mike
: with all this talk about relative strengths of different layups has anyone
: out there down their own tests and come to any surprising conclusions?
