bow design

Nick and anyone else who knows, I have a question about the concavity of the bow on the Auk designs, and most others for that matter. I assume that this design is to help the bow catch and ride over waves. (yes/no?) If so, would making the bow convex and thereby increasing the volume do the job as well? How much would this change in design affect the prismatic coefficient? The reason I am curious is that I want to build a Razor Billed Auk and, ofcourse, I want mine to be faster than anyone elses. I thought that the convex bow line must be faster since the olympic sprint boats and the racing surfskis are built with them. BUT! there is a surfski with a wing built on its bow to keep it from submarining in surf. So what is best? (how is that for an easy question)
