Hi; I have three sheets of exterior glue 1/4 " (6+mm) mahogany just itching for the skillsaw. I know this stuff is too fat for a complete shell kayak so I'm thinking maybe a sailing canoe or small sailboat. Preferably something that doesn't look like a 1950's Hartley design. Oh yeah, I'm really cheap so a free design is good, but as an engineer I don't mind paying for design work.
I know what you're asking yourself, why don't I engineer it myself, I tried that when I was 14 and ended up with a 9 foot-60 lbs-fiberglass dreadnought. Did I mention tippy?? But to this day (21 yrs later) I still think of my current tupperware boat as "a store bought" one. Even though I got it used.
I wanted something that I could practice the S&G/epoxy saturation method on w/o blowing thru $50/sheet plywood. So.. send the designs my way and I'll let you know how it turns out.
BTW, my then-friend now brother-in-law still has the wood and nagahyde (sp) boat that motivated me to "make a better one" so long ago. Of course it's been in "dry dock" for... well it's been there awhile. He never throws anything away, he's cheap too. markB
