Before building a retractable skeg, I wanted to experiment with size and location. I glued a 10 sq in piece of 1/4 in plywood to the bottom of the RBA 2 ft from the stern. I had the kayak out twice in moderate winds and waves. With that small skeg it tracks like an arrow in any direction. I am happy! Sooner or later I will build a proper retract skeg. Love the speed.
