Razor Billed Auk

I build a RBA and took it on the maiden voyage yesterday. The speed is impressive, but the tendency to weathercock is anoying to say at least. Wind speed was less than 10 mph and it was a chore to keep the heading. I don't want to install a rudder, so the obvious remedy is a skeg. Where should I place the skeg? As far towards the stern as possible or right after the cocpit? What size (how many sq in?). Any other good ideas? Thanks, Neal
