my laundry pile is so high thought I'd elbow into this one. I've got the opposite bias, ie. concave bows. I think they're a means to get a sharp entry and strong tracking from the bow but mostly its aesthetics, but they detract from maneuvering in rough water. Arluk kayaks have lots of concavity in the bow,hard to turn.
