an aluminum skeg from necky ,$35, can be configured into a rudder if the stern is low either way it's an easy assemblage of brackets and small rudder. the cable attachements are set close together so it will only take about 1/2" of cable movement for 30degrees of rudder,it also can lift straight back out of the water, I put one on a patuxent the day before a citizens race. the boat was ready, I wasn't. The rudder made a big difference but was small compared to a conventional feathercraft,so the boat was easy to pivot but had just enough tracking to be manageable. a tiller, pivoting footpegs, anything but sliding footbraces. I made a 2" tiller made out of 2" piece of the end of the boat, stuck through deck about 6" in front of coaming. I'd turn it like a knob, pretty linear dialing. worked
