What is so simple about the life of building kayaks and paddling out to sea to fetch your dinner. This is neither simple/easy nor simple/uncomplex. Learning to build a safe kayak and then paddle it in adverse conditions is every bit as technically challenging as learning to drive to work and write good software. And the consequences of failure were more severe. A 30 year old Aleut hunter probably had more technical know-how in his field than the best 40 year old stock broker today.
